TPP is the abbreviation of "Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement", formerly recognized as "Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement". It was a multilateral free trade agreement, initially established by New Zealand, Singapore, Brunei and Chile in the year of2005, distinguished with the characteristic of openness, comprehensiveness, high-quality and high standard. TPP, well known as the new model of Free Trade in21st century, was a new, high level and advanced regional free trade agreement.TPP was hardly known till United State declared to join in the year of2009and since then, it have entered a new stage. By now, TPP has12members and went through18negotiations. In new era, US promote the TPP negotiation actively not only for economic interests, more importantly, for the realistic political and strategic goals. As a result, it becomes an essential part of US rebalance strategy. Owing to the United States’positive participation, TPP is constantly growing quickly. Nevertheless, it still confronts many difficulties and challenges and its prospect is not yet clear.If TPP works successfully, it will have an important impact on China. In specific, TPP will affect China’s export, agriculture, economy and the trading environment and trading status.Meanwhile, TPP acting as another competitive mechanism will participate in the construction of Asia-Pacific free trade Area building, challenging the existing regional cooperation mechanism.This paper will elaborate United State’ motivations of promoting the TPP negotiation from the aspects of economy, politic and strategy, analyze TPP’s prospects and challenges, and explore the potential impacts on China. Based on the analysis above, this paper would come up with the countermeasures both from internal and external to handle the challenge, getting rid of the negative effects.
