Agriculture is the foundation of the national economy industry, It’s important to develop a country’s national economy, there are two ways to increase agricultural productivity: increasing agricultural production factors of inventory and improving the agricultural total factor productivity. However, Economic resources are very scarce, so agricultural economy growth must depend on the agricultural total factor productivity increasing. It is a critical period that China’s agriculture transforming from traditional agriculture to modern agriculture. But compared to the United States, there are many problems that low level of mechanization and agricultural labor productivity, backward agricultural planting mode, that directly restricts the total factor productivity growth.This paper based on agricultural total factor productivity of China and the United States, using DEA-Malmquist productivity index method, Compared the changes of agricultural total factor productivity growth rate of China and the United States, The agricultural total factor productivity growth rate is decomposed into technical efficiency and technical progress, The purpose is to analyze the Chinese and American agricultural total factor productivity growth momentum, find out the different reasons of agricultural total factor productivity change trend and growth, in addition, Using the multivariate linear regression model, Analyzed the influence factors of China’s agricultural total factor productivity, for provide a scientific basis of the improvement of China’s agricultural total factor productivity.The full text study can get the following conclusions:(1)China’s agricultural total factor productivity growth dependent on agricultural policy.(2)China’s agricultural total factor productivity growth is slow.(3)China’s agricultural total factor productivity growth rate from technical progress and technical efficiency.(4)Chinese traditional cropping pattern restrict the improvement of agricultural total factor productivity.This paper compared agricultural total factor productivity of China and the United States, In order to analyze the reason of the gap between the two countries, provide a certain basis for improving China’s agricultural total factor productivity. So as to promote the development of Chinese agriculture.
