Genetically Modified Soybeans Have Impacted On China’s Non-genetically Modified Soybeans

Transgenic technology has been used for more than30years since it was developed successfully.It is one of the successful application examples that transgenic technology is used in crops.The United States is the first country to carry out large-scale production of genetically modified crops in the world,and its transgenic soybean acreage is also the largest in the worldwide country.Our country was once the world’s largest soybean exporter.The production of soybeans are basically self-sufficient in our country.With the rapid development of the global economic level, people’s living standards are increasing higher, therefore,the demand of soybean is expanding rapidly in our country.Meanwhile,the non-genetically modified soybean yield and acreage of our country has declined both.It is unable to keep up with the rapid expansion of demand levels,so it can only rely on imorts of genetically modified soybeans to fill the gap between supply and demand.Our soybean industry will inevitably suffer a serious blow when the GM soybeans enter the soybean market in our country.At first,the paper has introduced GM soybeans’ research situation,species,characters and scale cultivation,and analyses the reasons of GM soybeans’ rapid development.It will reflect the management and attitudes of these countries towards the GM food after making a comparison with the laws and regulations among the countries about the United States, the European Union and our country.Then,the paper analyses the situation of GM soybeans import of our country.Secondly,the paper makes a description of our countries’ import and export situation of GM food,and analyses our countries’ soybean self-sufficiency rate,import and export dependence,market share and trade competitiveness index.The results are that the self-sufficiency rate of soybean is declining,the import dependence is increasing,export dependence changes little,market share of our soybean continues to decline,and the competitiveness of international market basically does not exist.Thirdly,through the empirical analysis of the impact between GM soybeans and domestic non-genetically modified soybeans sales price,it can determine what kind of relationship exists between them.The result is that the soybean production and the import have negative correlation with sales price of domestic soybeans.Soybean production increased by1%,the domestic soybean sales price will be reduced by0.55%;Soybean imports increased by1%,the domestic soybean sales price will be reduced by0.32%.Not only that,the domestic soybean production costs and the soybean import amount have a significant positive correlation with domestic soybean sales price.The domestic soybean production costs increased by1%,the domestic soybean sales price will rise0.44%;the amount of soybean import rose by1%, the domestic soybean sales price will increase0.35%.At last,the paper will give some suggestions about soybean industry development policy of our country from the aspect of industrial policy,government support,industry management standards,mode of production,own brand and so on.
