Since21Century, the economic globalization step more and more quickly, the differences of between regions or nations are more and more small, the increasingly fierce competition between enterprises. Especially in recent years, the rapid development of IT&network technology, quickly changed the mass communication mode and consumption mode, which has a great impact on the printer market, global demand of the printer market is reduce. People have made more stringent requirements on printer product. The means a new printer products will be more innovative and price should be lessen. Company must be close follow the technology changes, the market changes, customer request vary, and need constantly develop innovative products, but also to reduce the cost of new product development as far as possible, to promote the new product market competitive advantage. The cost of new mold development was occupied the most of new product development expense for printer development. The company if want to gain competitive advantage it depend if it can effectively reduce the cost of new product development, more shorten the development cycle to improve competitiveness. And shorten the new mold development time and lessen expense of the new mold development that it will decide the length and cost of development of new product development.New mold design, manufacturing and modification activities that always along with the entire process of the development of new printer. Each activity is its success or failure will effects on the development of a new printer. Develop a new mold of CY new printer as example here, through new mold development process issues analysis for CY new printer. Then give propose for new mould process optimization. As the new mold cost is too high and the mold changes frequently and the diversification of customer needs and each printer type’s demand smaller, we suggest that build soft mold as possible at first. Soft mold has the characteristics of quick and easy to process and modification. It will save time and cost a lot. In detail describes that according to the future market demand, decide to use what kind of hardness level steel for build mold. We thinks that the high hardness steel mold despite the long service life and it can produce a lot of parts, also the unit cost is low, but the process is difficult and modify the mold cost is high. However the market has not so much demand for products. If the market demand is very small, no need to use so high hardness steel. The part design was changed frequently at early, a high hardness steel, not only the price of steel is high, and the processing is very difficult. As35S2075-005EC an example, using high hardness steel mold the cost of mold repair is high and time is long, more difficult than the soft mold. It has more than600sets of molds for each printer products, we can image that it will save a lot of cost if use low hardness of steel build mold.Some parts may be wholly intact to be used in new printer products. It recommends the use of advanced network source and design of parts information system platform. All parts of printer according to module or different functional categories input parts database. Designer can be obtained similar parts from database by system, some part need to minor modifications or a little change to use for another new printer product. For common parts, we can find existing mold in the production, so it not need to rebuild mold. Save mold cost, also save modifications and mold qualify actions. Common mold implementation would be further cost was saved at new printer development. The external market environment change constantly, we must to continuous innovation and constantly optimize the new mold development process if need continue to reduce new mold development costs and reduce the processing time. In order to reduce new printer product development costs and enhance the competitiveness of products in the market for a new printer.
