CE (concurrent engineering), as a new model to speed up new product development, is drawing high attention from both academic and business world widely. It is an advanced design and manufacturing model for business management and operation, it's a new phase of increasing development of CIMS. CE is to organize cross-function, multi-disciplinary development teams to work together in parallel, team should take crossover design across product, process, manufacturing and other upward and downward areas in the whole process, Good information sharing can let team find problems at the first time and then take actions to fix them timely. This will greatly shorten the lead time of product development with quality improvement and cost reduction. This paper reveals the relationship between new product development management and concurrent engineering, and explores the theoretical basis for concurrent engineering also. In this paper, We can see how H company use CE techniques (such as DFM,DFA, PDM, APQP etc.) in their new product development process to meet customer targets on TQCS(timing, quality, cost and service) it illustrates that new product development is a collaborative efforts from cross-function team. But not only involved by design function. In the case study about new product development process improvement in H company, the effective teamwork with CE methodology is critical to ensure flawless launches and achieve win-win business target. For example, Co-design with suppliers can greatly shorten the cycle time of new components development; customer representatives and technical staff to maintain good communication, that can better reflect customer expectations into project targets well.; Furthermore, design review between designers and manufacturing engineers, can make manufacturing cost decreased, but productivity increased. These practices are important for future business development and further growth of H Company. but also is hopeful about promoting these experience to other companies. That is the real purpose of this article.
