In order to explore the effect of mixing sequence on the heat-integrated waternetwork’s energy performance, we divide this problem according the structure ofnetwork as two sections: the sequence between multi-streams on the energy target andthe sequence between multi-units on the energy target. By analyzing the mixingsequence problem, we also get the mixing rules.By analyzing the energy optimization problem of specific water using networkbased on the pinch analysis technology, we can confirm that the mixing sequencereally influence the energy target of water using network. It is difficult to directlyanalyze the mixing sequence problem of multi-streams or multi-units water usingnetwork. As the two streams mixing rules are already very clear, we divided everytwo streams as one group. So we can use the developed method to analyze the mixingsequence problem and get the mixing rules which can be used to identify theappropriate mixing sequence and improve the energy performance of a water networkwith several mixing scenarios, benefiting the system’s utility target.In this paper, we divided the18kinds of Mixing between two streams accordingto their energy performance into four types-the mixing will definitely cause energypenalty, the mixing will not be saved and may cause energy penalty, the mixing maycause energy saving and the mixing which’s influence is complicated. The mixingwhich’s influence is complicated can be classified to the other three types after mixing.To make the energy consumption as low as possible, the mixing will definitely causeenergy penalty should not happen. Then we analyzed the different energy influencecaused by different mixing sequences between the other two types and differentmixing groups in same type by analyzing the change of hot and cold composite curve.Through above analysis,we get some rules to guide us how to chose a more propersequence when the mixing problem is existing.Finally, energy target is optimizing in some cases by the mixing rules. We canknow that how to use the rules effectively to avoid improper mixing sequence and achieve the purpose of energy saving.
