The copper, cobalt and nickel organometallic complexes have been widely used in biology, medicine, catalytic reaction and etc. Based on the full literature, the recent advancement of the typical N, O-transitional organometallic complexes and their catalytic application to the Henry reaction and cyanosilylation are systematically summarized. The organometallic complexes I-V involving L-amino alcohol were separately obtained from the directly reaction of L-phenylglycinol with CuCl2·2H2O, Co(OAc)2·4H2O, Ni(OAc)2·4H2O, NiCl2·6H2O and CoCl2·6H2O. Each reaction of N-piperidineethanol with CuCl2·2H2O and N-hydroxyethylphthalimide with Cu(OAc)2·H2O resulted in the production of complexes VI-VII. They were all characterized by IR, Elemental analysis and X-ray diffraction analysis. The complexes I-VII were then used as the catalysts to the Henry reaction including the selection of time, the choice of different solvents and different aldehydes, The optimum catalytic conditions were achieved. Among them, the complexes I, II, IV and VI achieved the best catalytic results, the conversion efficiency was up to 99%. In addition, the complexes I-VII were also used to catalyze the cyanosilylation and also achieved good catalytic results. The complex II, VI and VII achieved the best catalytic effects, the conversion efficiency was also up to 99%.
