With the development of social economy, the requirement of energy consumption is increasing to support the rapid development of economy. China’s carbon emission continue increasing, become one of the largest carbon emission countries. Along with the global environmental problems intensified, the developing countries which in the economic take-off stage, faced with the pressure of carbon emission reduction. And China as one of the largest developing countries, the pressure of carbon emission reduction is particularly enormous. China as a responsible country, always keep a deep concern about the environmental problems, and actively take measures to realize the commitment on carbon emission reduction that made to the international community. China’s economy growth pressure is enormous, and the contradiction between economic growth and carbon emission reduction is increasingly prominent, how to handle the relationship between economic growth and carbon emission reduction is relating to the national sustainable development. The main carbon emissions come from the field of production, carbon emission reduction in production field will contribute to the low carbon development. And China is a vast country. The development conditions are different in different regions. The stage of development is also different, the formation of carbon emissions is not the same. This paper studied on the carbon footprint calculation and influencing factors of 30 provinces in China, quantitative analyze the present situation and changes in the economic development process of 30 provinces and cities’ carbon footprint, in-depth analysis the affect factors of carbon footprint of different provinces and cities, in order to provide scientific reduction policy and management measures. The main contents of this paper include:(1)Comparative analysis of China’s 30 provinces in energy consumption and change condition. Then study in the energy consumption structure of 30 provinces. Use the industrial structure convergence analysis method to study and compare the industrial structure of 30 provinces. Through the above analysis, to know the cause of the different carbon footprint of different provinces. Continued rapid growth in energy consumption, especially coal consumption growth too fast, inevitably leads to the increase of carbon footprint. The industrial structure isomorphism phenomenon lead to the differences on provincial carbon footprint, and the industrial structure difference between provinces and regions is gradually expanding.(2)Construct the carbon footprint calculation model, calculating and analyzing the carbon footprint of China’s 30 provinces. Using input-output method, construct carbon footprint calculation model of China’s 30 provinces. Calculate total carbon footprint of 30 provinces. Based on the total carbon footprint, further comparative analysis between the total carbon footprint, per capita carbon footprint, carbon footprint intensity, analysis of carbon footprint characteristics. In order to study the relationship between the carbon footprint and economic development, by using the decoupling analysis, analyzing the relationship between the carbon footprint and economic development. For a more in-depth understanding of the constitute of carbon footprint, by the above analysis, the composition and changes in the carbon footprint of China’s 30 provinces are described, a comprehensive analysis in scale, structure, fluctuation of carbon footprint. The research results show that the carbon footprint and economic development gradually present decoupling. Carbon footprint growth gradually lower than the speed of economic development, especially the developed eastern provinces decoupling is more apparent. The carbon footprint of departments show obvious regional differences.(3)Construct the decomposition model based on Input-output and structure decomposition model, analyzing how the factors of production and consumption changes impact on carbon footprint. Research has found that energy saving technology progress is the main factor that inhibit the growth of China’s carbon footprint, and the scale effect is the main factor growth prompt China’s carbon footprint. This paper uses the model of influence factors empirical analysis on carbon footprint to study carbon footprint of 30 provinces in the year 2002-2007. And provide energy saving and emission reduction policy in production field. The innovation of this paper is mainly reflected in the following aspects:(1)Based on the measurement and comparative analysis of 30 provinces’ carbon footprint, not only comparatively analyze the total carbon footprint, but also the carbon footprint of each industry. Analyze the composition of carbon footprint in industry. Comparatively analyze the influence to carbon footprint by industry difference. By the analysis of the composition of carbon footprint, reveals the key carbon emission reduction industry, and puts forward more specific proposals.(2)Study the influence factors of the carbon footprint of 30 provinces of China, provides a theoretical basis for the formulation of energy saving and emission reduction policy. Previous studies mainly about carbon footprint of single province or single industry, and put forward suggestions of emission reduction. This paper study about the factors of carbon footprint, reveals the key carbon footprint factors, and puts forward suggestions for each provinces.
