With the development of the economy and the improvement of the living standard, beef has been gradually playing a more and more important role in people’s daily life. With food security being more connected with our health, especially in the area where the national minorities are living on the beef or mutton, the beef industry is more concerned with the development of the nation. It has been a long time since our country applied “end-of-pipe test” which means the meat quality is tested after the animal is slaughtered, which ignores the monitoring of a large set of intermediated sections including the management of beef cattle breeding, transportation, slaughter and the product processing. In this regard, it is complex and difficult to solve the problem efficiently when the beef insecurity occurs. In the present study, we developed a “one-step” service system for beef production and marketing based on The Internet of Things which as established according to the criterion and statute on the food security tracing system of the foreign countries as well as combining the beef processing from home and abroad. The main results are listed as follows:1. The holistic survey on the beef reproduction industry was done to have a comprehensive understanding about the current beef productive and demanding situation. At the same time, the criterion of the beef industry from the newly born calves to the beef marketing was established based on the feasibility of the technology and the recent research achievements from home and abroad.2. The information acquisition criterion was developed depends on the security of food industry and the feasibility of the beef production industry.3. The “one-step” service system for beef production and marketing was designed by taking considerations of the modularization designing and subprogram application. Meanwhile, the 2D barcode was designed with applying a corresponding printer.4. The monitoring software and database were established aiming to guarantee the beef security from the management of beef cattle breeding, transportation and slaughter to the product processing and marketing, which enables beef online selling and information storage or tracing. In other words, when the consumers enter the 2D barcode, all the information about the beef product from the newly born calves to the beef marketing will be present.5. After the system was primally established, it was tried and modified on the real beef production until it could be applied to the whole beef industry.Our present study indicates that the newly established system works efficiently, the data entering is feasible and the information of the beef product is comprehensive. It enables the beef products online selling and beef process tracing, which reduces laboring costs and increases the beef consumption as well as beef product security.
