Conveyor belt in the process of coal and mining products transportation, played an important role to the relationship. Relative to a mode of transportation such as trains, cars, planes, conveyor belt with transportation of low cost, high efficiency, environmental protection, and many other advantages, but still has its own problem cannot be ignored, such as conveyor belt itself weight is heavier, conveyor belt conveyor fracture occurs for a long time and need the problem such as tension. In these problems, unit weight of conveyor belt itself is the most serious problem, it not only reduces the carrying capacity, to shorten the life of conveyor belt, but more important is to increase the energy consumption. If on the premise of not reduce the service life of the conveyor belt, reduce the weight of conveyor belt, can increase the bearing capacity of conveyor belt, reduce energy consumption, the economic benefits of its will be very considerable.In order to achieve the goal of energy saving of the designated by the state, the conveyor belt manufacturers are on their own products, the optimization design and transformation, to strive to meet market and customer requirements. This article from the perspective of simulation and experiment on a company’s research and development of light energy saving high strength steel cord conveyor belt was studied, and the specific work is as follows:(1) from the physical properties of rubber, the bearing capacity of the conveyor belt is established physical and mathematical model, constructed the gravitational field, the research is mainly focused on the transport mechanism and bearing mechanism of deformation of the conveyor belt.(2) using finite element software of ABAQUS to new and traditional transportation belt conveyor belt crimp, cornering performance, sag rolling performance were studied. Through stress, stress distribution, strain size, displacement data related to the size of the study, it is concluded that the new crimp performance, cornering performance of conveyor belt, sag roll performance is superior to the traditional conclusion of conveyor belt.(3) through experimental research on crimp performance of conveyor belt, cornering performance, sag rolling performance, and stress is obtained by experiment, the stress distribution, strain, displacement of the relevant data such as size, it is concluded that the performance of the new type of conveyor belt is superior to the traditional the conclusion of the performance of the conveyor belt.Through practical application, the new unit weight reduce 30-50% of conveyor belt, the carrying capacity of 20% to 20%, the energy consumption reduced by 15%-15%, transport costs by 40-45%.Thus, by reasonable design of structure and formula process, reduce the weight of conveyor belt to transport with saving energy and reducing consumption in the process of transportation, it is meaningful to improve business efficiency.
