The density of the ore pulp is a very important factor in the process of ore dressing. Pulp density have a very important influence on grinding fineness, grinding effects, separation efficiency, etc. The ore pulp density detection always has been a very important issue in the beneficiation industry. Because the ore pulp density detection field condition is very harsh, and the slurry particle size and flow rate are non-uniform, and the devices are lack of maintenance, the general pulp density detector in the actual application of the general effect is not ideal.The paper described the working principle and the existing problems of current mainly used in ore pulp density detection systems. The ore pulp slurry is not stable and prone to precipitation, and the density of the current detection system need a high capital cost, which are inconvenient for maintenance and installation. In order to overcome the deficiencies of the ore pulp density detector and with the deeply understanding the basis of the ore pulp density detection system measurement technology at domestic and overseas, this paper designed an intelligent impeller ore pulp density line detector, which is used AVR as the core. The core of this density detector is control host, and the key technology is the impeller-type sensor device.The impeller-type sensor device is designed to be made of impeller, shaft sleeve, weighing sensor, DC motor, bracket and other components. The paper Analyzed the principle and the connection method of weighing sensor. The axial force is related to pulp density which is produced by impeller. and the paper established the mathematical relationship of impeller shaft to the force. It can be calculated the density of ore pulp density(concentration) by detecting the size of the axial force. Compared with the density of the current existing detection methods, the detector can effectively prevent ore pulp slurry stratification and precipitation by stirring of the impeller.The hardware circuits and the software system of control console is designed and researched by the author. The paper established the host hardware systems that include a set of sampling, signal amplification, computing, storage, display, operations management, communications, signal output and other functions. The paper selected the ATmega128model single chip microcomputer as the core. The circuit components include high-performance signal amplifier, A/D, D/A, DI, DO,4-20mA current loop, EEPROM memory circuit, LCD display circuit, clock reset circuit, communications and power supply circuit. Software design includes:the main program, the keyboard program, the display administering program, the filtering algorithm and the chip driver modules program, such as A/D、D/A、DI、DO、 EEPROM、LCD、communication, etc.The ore pulp density detector can accurately detect the density of ore pulp in real-time. It is only need a little investment, and it runs very stable and reliable, and it is very simple and fast for installation, operation and maintenance. It is not only applies to detect ore pulp density in mineral processing industry, but also applies to detect other industries of the density of solid-liquid mixture.
