Under the violent impact of economic globalization, the textile industry has been developed rapidly and people’s demands for fabrics have gradually gone toward technological, comfort and humanized requirements. People want the fabrics not only beautiful and fashionable, but also comfortable and delightful. As one of the main factors of judging whether the fabric is comfortable or not is the inherent tactile characteristic of textiles, it is very important for people to test the tactile properties of fabrics objectively and standardize the objective test method.In the preliminary studies of the project, a set of test system of instrument for the objective testing and evaluating of textiles was developed, which could test touch properties of textile materials, including heat transfer properties, bending and twisting properties, surface friction properties and compression properties through the simulation of dynamic contact process between the textiles and human skins.In order to get better test results, improvements including test method and test process were carried out. Device of the instrument and the control method were all revised and improved and relevant measures were carried out to remove the interferences.Program was optimized and function modules were added including data storage and wave filtering. 100 typical fabrics were tested by the improved system, which provides data support and objective analysis foundation for further practical research.On the base of objective test experiment of 100 typical fabrics, deep research of indices grading was carried out and the indices was graded into nine levels based on the distribution of data.A relevant subjective experiment of 500 volunteers was conducted to touch and feel 12 kinds of typical textile was carried out and the results show that evaluations of different volunteers for 10 typical fabrics were consistent and the 4 subjective indices were effective and meaningful. According to the combination of subjective and objective test results, textile materials were divided into 6 categories and the summary of different fabrics was presented.Now, KES test system was accepted internationally about objective testing of tactile properties of fabrics and 7 typical fabrics were chosen to carry out the correlation analysis of experiment to expound and prove the effectiveness and progressiveness of this fabric touch tester system. The result shows that there is good relativity between this fabric touch tester system and KES system.Several analysis, such as P/T ration, X-bar and R-chart, analysis of Variance, repeatability and reproducibility, as well as critical differences and residual variance and critical differences of fabrics were carried out to get the practical capacity and precision and provide a theoretical basis for the establishment of a standardized test and evaluation methods of the touch properties of textile materials. The analysis results show that this fabric touch tester system has good practical capacity and precision.Analysis and studies were carried out for purpose and scope, principle, terminology, apparatus and materials, test Specimens, Procedure, calculation and evaluation and so on to get a preliminary test and evaluation standard based on the AATCC standard system.
