In recent years, the drill is widely used in construction, mining engineering, petroleum engineering and aerospace, the detecting of mechanical and thermodynamic parameters of drill are increasingly complex. Therefore, it is necessary to select the appropriate sensor for its real-time monitoring to ensure the reliability of project and economic rationality. The traditional electromagnetic sensing technology is far from meeting the requirements of high precision. As a new sensing technology, fiber Bragg grating sensing technology has many advantages such as high precision, light weight, small volume, and anti-interference capability that electromagnetic sensing technology cannot reach, which is used widely in engineering.The drill will be effected by axial force, bending moment and torque in the drilling process generally with the temperature increasing. The performance of the drill will be impacted, so that the drill can not work normally, even causes damage of drilling system and personal injury when the force is too large or the temperature is too high. Therefore, when the drilling system designed, especially in the high requirements of power consumption and quality of engineering (such as aerospace engineering), it is necessary to analyze and test the mechanical and thermodynamic parameters of drill.In this paper, the mechanical and thermodynamic parameters of drill are analyzed used ANSYS/LS-DYNA, and they were measured by experiment. The main works of this paper include the following aspects:1. The sensing properties, the demodulation method and application of FBG are systematically analyzed, the testing technology of the mechanical and thermodynamic parameters of the drill is presented briefly.2. The strain and temperature sensing principle of FBG are analyzed, the heat transfer of drill when it drill workpiece is analyzed based on the basic principles of thermodynamics, the separation principle of axial force, bending moment and torque of drill and correction method are introduced.3. The drilling process is analyzed used ANSYS software based on establishing the drill and workpiece model and the temperature distribution of drill is obtained. The stress distribution and the correction parameters △ and k of axial force, bending moment and torque of drill are obtained by statics simulation analysis. The stress and temperature measuring points of drill are defined according to the simulation results.4. The axial force, bending moment and torque of aluminum tube and the axial force, bending moment, torque and temperature of drill when it drill workpiece are measured used fiber Bragg grating sensor.By comparing the experimental values, theoretical values and simulation values, the feasibility of using FBG to detect the mechanical and thermodynamic parameters of drill is verified. The study provides a new method for detecting mechanical and thermodynamic parameters of drill on the project.
