Global warming has become an indisputable fact, It has increasingly become a common concern of the government and people of various countries. The concentration rising of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the earth’s atmosphere is due to human activities especially the combustion and consumption of fossil fuel in industrial production and life. At present, in the industrialization period of rapid development of China, the greenhouse gas emissions represented by carbon dioxide growth has significantly increased, China has become a global greenhouse gas emissions superpower. Shanxi Province is not only central important economic big province and the province of heavy industry of China, but also the energy consumption of a large province. According to the area characteristics of the development of Shanxi Province, to find a suitable for the low carbon economy development so as to promote the development of low carbon economy in our country is the urgent problem of Shanxi Province.Firstly the paper make a detailed analysis of the characteristics of carbon emission in Shanxi Province. The characteristics of time series results showed that: from 1990 to 2012, economic growth of Shanxi Province is sustained, the total carbon emissions and per capita carbon emission showed a increasing trend; with the development of the technical level and the management level in Shanxi Province, the carbon intensity showed a declining trend. The characteristics of Structure results showed that: from 1990 to 2012, the carbon emissions of the three industries of Shanxi Province overall showed a rising trend, while the carbon emissions of the second industries is far more than the first industry and the third industry. The carbon intensity of the three industries overall shoeed a downward trend and the declining of carbon emission intensity of the second industry is the most obvious.This paper focus on making a detailed analysis of the influence factors of carbon emissions in Shanxi Province, including the analysis of the influencing factor of the per capita carbon emission and the industrial carbon emissions of Shanxi Province. First of all, the article establish the factor decomposition model of per capita carbon emission and industrial carbon emissions of Shanxi Province. The factor decomposition model of per capita carbon emission selects the energy intensity of carbon emissions, energy structure, energy intensity and economic development, the factor decomposition model of industrial carbon emissions selects industrial carbon emissions intensity, industrial energy intensity, industrial structure and economic development. According to the model, the article calculates the contribution value and contribution rate of each factor of per capita carbon emissions and industrial carbon of Shanxi Province. The results of the study show: on per capita carbon emissions in Shanxi Province, economic development factors is the main pull factors, energy intensity and energy structure is the major inhibitory factors, and the facilitation of economic development factors for per capita carbon emissions is far greater than the inhibition of the energy intensity factors and energy structure factors. For the industrial carbon emissions, economic development factors is the main pull factors, industrial carbon emission intensity factors and industrial energy intensity factors and industrial structure factors are the major inhibitory factors, but its contribution rate to the industrial carbon emission is low, and the change is little and far less than contribution rate of the factors of economic development to the industrial carbon emission. Therefore, the improvement of energy saving and emission reduction technology and the adjustment of energy structure and industry structure are the main measures for reduce carbon emissions.
