As the number of used belt conveyor is increasing, the related research about control technology is constantly expanding. In this paper, the main research topic is how to establish a long-distance belt conveyor monitoring system with complete function, which realizes the controlling of the whole transport line, real-time state monitoring and fault diagnosis.Firstly,this paper presents the domestic and foreign development process of long-distance belt conveyor monitoring system with the investigation and comparison. And it analysis the technology disparity in the field of real-time controlling and fault diagnosis. The "Binani" concrete material transportation control system is taken as the research background.This paper introduces the configuration and control requirements explicitly.Particularly the monitoring setting,network structures and the design of hardware and software. The long-distance belt conveyor supervising system is constructed by SIEMENS S7-300 PLC, ET-200, industrial monitoring computer, touch screen and related communication equipment,which could realize multi-mode operation of the machinery, remote data transmission and manual interaction function. Regarding the implementation of fault warning and diagnosis, the paper clarified the application of information fusion technology,specific the realization of the relevant mathematical model and algorithm.Considering the fault characteristics of the belt conveyor system,it proposes a strategy of fault diagnosis based on information fusion technology.Taking the advantage of local data collected by the sensors,this paper makes a series of tests based on MATLAB software platform.The analysis of test data showed that the strategy can realize the function of fault identification and diagnosis of long-distance belt conveyor, with high accuracy and reliability, which can provide effective protection for the management and monitoring.
