Mining emulsion is the main transmission medium of mining hydraulic prop. Its concentration is reasonable or not directly related to the service life and the cost of hydraulic prop. Aiming at the common existing deficiencies of traditional detecting methods for emulsion concentration such as needing manual sampling, hysteresis quality and low measuring accuracy, a kind of special detection system was putted forward based on the principle of the total reflection of light. The image of the light incident to the emulsion was studied. The image’s geometric model was established. The relationship between the characteristic parameters and the emulsion concentration has been researched. A variety of different concentration emulsion has been detected using the relationship. The results indicate that the precision of the online detection method for mining emulsion based on image processing can reach 0.001% and has higher precision and reliability compared with the traditional detection method’s precision of 0.5%. The detection scheme overcomes the shortcomings of traditional detection methods and has a good practicability through experimental verification. The specific works are as follows:Firstly, the overall scheme of the whole detection system was designed including the imaging system design, image preprocessing system(client) and image processing system(PC). The hardware part is the control module using ARM as the control core. The control chips of image sensor CCD and LCD were respectively selected OV7670 and ILI9320. The design of the software part is the image processing program based on Open CV.Secondly, the influencing factors of refractive index and the relationship of different incident angle and light energy division were analyzed. An optical imaging system was designed based on the above analysis. The relationship of emulsion concentration and refractive index was discussed on this basis.Thirdly, the hardware part of mining emulsion concentration detection system was designed. The detection system includes the camera hardware, LCD module, the power management module of each module, the communication hardware of the upper and lower machine and the hardware platform of the upper machine.Fourthly, the image processing technology was introduced which is the core of the design. The image processing program was designed based on the Open CV. The characteristic information of the image was extracted. The function relationship between the characteristic information with the emulsion concentration was established and the corresponding execution routine was made.Finally, the system is tested compared with the traditional detection method to verify the feasibility and reliability of the online detection of the mining emulsion concentration based on image processing.
