Cellulose which is one of plentiful and primitive renewable resources on the earth exists in the cell membrane of plants, such as tree bark, cotton fibers, hemp plants, grain leather or other plants. Recently, it was found that some kinds of bacterias could produce cellulose by enzymatic-process. In this paper,we improved natural loofah cellulose’s adsorption capacity by chemically modifing. Modification methods are: 1.H2O2 oxidation method, 2. sodium periodate oxidation,3. acrylonitrile grafting. The processing methods are different,so as to the reaction mechanism.H2O2 oxidated loofah’s processing is to make active hydroxies of cellulose oxidate to carbonyl, aldehyde or direct oxidate to-COOH in a random way, the polarity of the cellulose surface was increased, the adsorption capacity of organic dye cationic was better than untreated loofah, thus this kind of material can be used as wastewater treatment; this paper also discussed the mechanism of adsorption process by fitting adsorption model formula, inferred adsorption of H2O2 treated loofah was mainly dominated by chemical adsorption, physical adsorption also made some contribution. For the four kinds of adsorption kinetics models, the second-order kinetics model fitting degree was the best one. With potassium permanganate as the initiator, loofah fibers were grafted by acrylonitrile, acrylonitrile grafted cellulose acrylonitrile was reacted under vapor phase conditions, when the content of citric acid was 0.3mol / L, the reaction time was 60 min, the grafting rate of production reached the maximum amount.Secondary hydroxyl group position of cellulose would be oxidated to aldehyde group by sodium periodate and HIO4, the dialdehyde cellulose could be used as efluorescent property materials, efficient energy storage materials, metal chelators and other functional biomedical polymer materials. In this paper, when the reaction time was 6h, concentration of sodium periodate solution was 0.2mol / L, temperature was 45 ℃, pH=8, the concentration of oxidized cellulose could reach 1.072 mol / g, and the degradation rate was low. The adsorption capacity of methylene blue increased with aldehyde content, equilibrium sorption values increased, but when the aldehyde content reached 0.6872 mol / g, the adsorption capacity began to decline.
