Integrated impeller is a type of representative parts with thin blades, poor rigidity and poor machining technological properties. Because only the blade roots are connected to the hub, elastic deformation will appear under the cutting force and produce machining errors. A lot of material needs to be removed during the process of integrated impeller so that the processing efficiency is low. The machining errors of thin blades and processing efficiency are the key points to realize high efficiency and precision machining of integrated impeller.The development of turn-milling machining technology solved the bottleneck problem of machining complicated curved parts. It can complete whole or mostly processing in one clamping, therefore the machining time is saved and machining precision is improved. So studying the turn-milling machining of integrated impeller is helpful to promote the manufacturing level of complicated curved parts.The parametric modeling of integrated impeller is conducted based on NURBS curve/surface technology in CATIA and a precise model is gained. Through studying the turn-milling processing characteristics of integrated impeller, the processing scheme of integrated impeller is put forward. The milling force model of thin blade is established to analyze the relationship between the blade deformation and cutting force. Based on researching the effect factors of machining precision and processing time of integrated impeller, optimize the cutting parameters with the optimization objects of the minimum blade deformation, the shortest processing time and the lowest manufacturing cost, which especially takes the constraint of cutting temperature into consideration. Then the optimal spindle speed n, feed speed, cutting depth and cutting width are got. The integrated impeller is preprocessed with the optimized cutting parameters to get the cutting location file. By developing the post processor of WFLM40 turn-milling machining center based on IMSPOST, the cutting location file is converted into NC programs. Last, simulation processing and practical processing of integrated impeller are implemented to verify the optimal processing scheme.The results showed that processing integrated impeller with the optimal processing scheme, the processing time and deformation of blade can be significantly reduced. The optimal cutting parameters can help to exert the advantages of processing integrated impeller with turn-milling center and achieve the high quality and high efficiency. The results of this paper have very important significance on the five-axis machining of integrated impeller.
