China’ polycrystalline diamond compact production is with high yield but low quality in addition to the factors of raw materials and technology, also the detection method is an important factor in product quality constraints. To represent the hardness, micro-hardness and abrasion ratio have their own defects. Research on new detection methods are of great help to improve the quality of polycrystalline diamond compact in our country. Acoustic detection is fast, accurate, objective, non-destructive and so on. In this paper, by studying the acoustic properties of polycrystalline diamond composite sheet, the relationship model between acoustic characteristics and PDC hardness was established. So the purpose of prediction of PDC composite film hardness was achieved.Firstly, acoustic characterization of material properties of the vitrified bond grinding wheel with different composition was studied preliminarily, so the sensitive reaction on the changes of material properties was founded. Then, according to the characteristics of polycrystalline diamond compacts and the principle of acoustics acquisition, the acquisition equipment was designed and made. The PDC acoustic signals were collected and the abrasion ratio(the ratio of PDC composite film hardness wear) was measured. By analyzing the fast Fu Liye transform, wavelet transform and wavelet packet transform of the collected acoustic signal, 28 characteristic parameters are extracted. Based on the characteristic parameters of T and the wear ratio of Y linear regression analysis, the mathematical model of acoustic properties and abrasion ratio was established.The study indicats that the acoustic performance of the reaction is sensitive to the change of material performance. Sound waves reflect the overall performance of the material, not local. Unary linear regression, 28 acoustic feature parameters, the five parameters of T2, T4, T5, T16 and T22, and wear ratio y were obtained by linear regression residuals coefficient has reached more 0.90, and the wear ratio has a very high degree of fitting.By stepwise linear regression analysis on characteristic values of T2, T4, T5, T16 and T22, PDC acoustic characteristic value of T4, T5, T16 and T22 and PDC wear ratio y of multivariate linear regression, the residual coefficient reached 0.9998. The fitting degree of the equation of linear regression and PDC composite plate abrasion ratio is the highest.Preliminary research shows that the PDC hardness is measured by sound waves is feasible.
