Recovering fine cassiterite effectively is a hard Problem. Flotation is an important method. The study of cassiterite flotation mainly focused on the development of efficient flotation reagents, and researchers have made great progress; But the system research of fine cassiterite is much less. In order to master the mechanism of fine cassiterite flotation, the study on the surface characteristics of fine cassiterite and floatability was carried on in this article. The surface properties of fine cassiterite were studied. The contact angle of cassiterite mineral is 33°, and its natural floatability is very poor, but its floatability can be significantly improved under the collector; The point of zero charge of cassiterite is 3.76.Based on the above, the floatability of fine cassiterite were studied in the collector system of sodium oleate, salicylhydroxamic acid and styrene phosphoric and the effect of Fe3 +, Al3+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Cu2+, Pb2+ and organic polymers citric acid, oxalic acid, acetic acid, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, lignin sulfonate, calcium, starch adjustment agents on the floatability of pure mineral cassiterite has also been studied. The results show that the floatability of cassiterite were significantly improved in the systems of the three collectors; In three flotation system, Fe3+ Al3+ , Ca2+, Mg2+, Cu2+ inhibited the flotation of cassiterite, and Pb2+ had an activation on the cassiterite flotation. The citric acid, oxalic acid, acetic acid, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, calcium ligno sulfonate, starch have an inhibition on the cassiterite floatation. It was concluded that the point of zero charge of cassiterite is 3.76.and the point of zero charge of cassiterite would decline with the adding of collectors. The adsorption of sodium oleate on the surface of cassiterite is mainly electrostatic adsorption; The potential detection and infrared spectroscopy results showed that the adsorption of salicyl hydroxamic acid and phosphoric acid on the surface of cassiterite are mainly chemisorption; The adding of Pb2+ had a certain activation on the flotation of cassiterite, and it exists in the form of Pb2+ and (PbOH)+ on the surface of cassiterite and improved the activity of cassiterite tin in order to activate the cassiterite flotation. This research on the flotation recovery of fine cassiterite provides the theoretical basis, which can be used to improve the utilization rate of cassiterite significantly.
