At present, compared with the similar rigs abroad, there are many problems, such as inconvenient relocation, long-term relocation and installation, heavy dismounting workload and many transportation times, exist in our domestic rig, as well as too low drilling efficiency to meet the market’s requirements, especially the medium-deep rig of 4000 m and 5000 m. Thus, it is in urgent need to develop a kind of modular rig suitable for medium and deep exploiting, either reduce drilling coast or shorten the drilling period.In this paper, a modular ZJ50 DB rig drilling rig are introduced. The determination of overall plan of drilling rig is described first of all. The design thoughts and structure type of the rig plan are elaborated, Secondly, the overall size of the derrick structure in the form of the segments and connections, derrick lifting way and its annex were designed, derrick can flip back beams using a folded form, using a new type of fast connection between paragraphs way, derrick and substructure with a hydraulic lifting cylinder beams. The software Autodesk Inventor is used for completing the three-dimensional modelling and fabrication of rig components to form the engineering drawings, another software SAFI is used to establish steel structural model of the rig to analyze and calculate the static strength, raising strength and transportation load, and software ANSYS is used to make modeling analysis for support and connecting lugs of rig. It focuses on the calculation and analysis of various plan of raising beam and finally determines the structure form of the raising beam.
