WEDM in mist media has received widespread attention at home and abroad, and has opened up new ways for EDM wire cutting process.It is replacing the traditional liquid working medium as a working medium mist. And it can improve the processing quality in the mist.But compared with traditional liquid medium,there is a big difference in the physical and chemical properties in the mist.And it also has a large difference of discharge machining performance in conventional emulsion liquid discharge machining.Therefore,It is necessary systematically to study its discharge mechanism and processing characteristics.This paper has systematically analyzed the mist generation method and application direction, through theoretical and experimental analysis,the suitable medium of mist for WEDM is selected and has a more in-depth study for its working mechanism.From the gas medium conductivity,breakdown,etc.It elaborated the theory of the gaseous medium discharge machining.Based on the discharge theory of gas,The mechanism of water mist medium conductivity and breakdown is analyzed systematically.Based on the comparative experiments and analysis of reciprocating WEDM in gas,emulsion liquid,steam water mist and ultrasonic water mist media,For surface roughness,surface morphology,cutting speed,the actual depth of cut,discharge status,material removal rate and other indicators,the reciprocating WEDM wire cutting in different media processing characteristics is studied. And the influence of the main processing parameters on the processing indicator of WEDM in steam water mist is studied.Secondly,based on orthogonal experiments and analysis of the signal noise ratio,the gray relational analysis method that used the norm gray relational grade to determine the weight was applied.In this way,optimization of multi objective parameter optimization problem of the reciprocating WEDM in steam water mist is converted into optimization problem of single objective grey correlation degree.The method conveniently and effectively obtain the weight of each index,So that the obtained theoptimized combination of parameters under the requirements of multi technological indexes is more objective and reasonable..And a comprehensive model of machining time and surface roughness is established.In the actual processing,it can be used as a method to determine the processing parameters good or bad.Finally,Based on the multiple cutting technology of different processing medium(emulsion liquid,steam water mist, atmosphere) is applied,the experiment were carried out to compare with the different methods of cutting in the emulsion.The experimental results show that the multiple cutting process of different media has better surface roughness and higher finishing speed.
