As a combined reaction container applied in chemical industry, the reactor device is filled with various poisonous, strong corrosive or flammable and explosive medium according to the reaction conditions. In the chemical industry, poisonous gases in the reactor device require no leakage in order to ensure the safety of the production process. Many of the shaft seals in the reactor device employ packing seal or mechanical seal, but neither of them could ensure zero leakage. Magnetic drive seal can ensure no leakage but it will cause too much cost. Meanwhile, magnetic drive seal is not of high reliability. Thus, in this study, we carried on the design and improvement on the shaft seal in the reactor device, adopt the magnetic fluid seal to ensure no leakage of the reactor device and the reliability of the seal.Following this goal, we completed the following research:(1) Based on the condition requirements of the reactor device, we put forward to the magnetic fluid seal scheme, and according to the design principle of magnetic fluid seal, we designed the flux sleeves, pole shoes and other components.(2) On the basis of the relevant theory of the electromagnetism, we conducted the static magnetic field simulation analysis of the magnetic fluid seal structure with the ANSYS, get the numerical solution of magnetic field strength, calculate the theoretical pressure endurance ability of magnetic fluid.(3) In order to study the influence of different magnetic fluids and different magnetic source structures on the pressure endurance ability, we used the finished magnetic fluid seal to conduct the static and dynamic experiments and the analyzed the results. Experimental results show that perfluoropolyether based magnetic fluid and ring permanent magnet has a better pressure endurance ability.(4) After the the processing of the completed seal was tested on the work place, the seal is used to the practical application, the result of which shows that the magnetic fluid seal can solve the shaft seal of reactor device problem completely. To solve the problems in the field assembly and practical application, we conducted optimization design of sealing structure, and the reliability of magnetic fluid seal is improved.In brief, the designed magnetic fluid seal was succeeded in solving the problem of shaft seal in reactor device.
