Belt-type sinterer is the main equipment in large-scale sintering plants. There exist serious problem of leaking air at present. Because of leaking air problem, the turning back ratio of mine increases and it results in that the cost of mine sintering arising and quantity and yield of mine sintering descending. For sintering plants, how to settle the leaking air problem becomes the major mission. So the study of sinterer seal has very important practical meaning. The leaking air problem occurs primarily between sinterer bellows slideway and sofflt of sintering trolley, top board and bottom board of sintering trolley, bottom board and the body of trolley, the lengthwise crackle of trolley board, etc. These leaking air problem can抰 be solved completely by the existing methods. Against these above leaking air problem, a new seal method, magnetic fluid seal, is given. Beginning with forming mechanics of seal medium, the character of magnetic fluid has been researched and magnetic fluid, which fits the demand, is made out. Then from the point of fluid mechanics, the kinematics equation and Bernoulii equation of magnetic fluid are derived. Based on the production practic of sinterer, straight seal theory is given. Last of all, the accuracy of deriving of theory is proved by experiment. The application research of sinterer seal is the first in domestic and international and this will be a technical revolution in sintering profession. The paper founds the theory base of future industrial experiments.
