Glycol is used in part of condensate gas field of Tarim oilfield to reduce the hydrate formation temperature, avoiding the device running problem caused by the presence of water so as to ensure the smoothness of dehydration and dehydrocarbon process. As a result, the performance of ethylene glycol is directly related to the dehydration and dehydrocarbon process and the quality of the gas product. With ethylene glycol performance as the research object, this paper mainly study the influence of impurity in nature gas, residual liquid and condensate on ethylene glycol dehydration performance, foaming performance, regeneration performance and corrosion performance through methods of field investigation, experimental study and data analysis. The main results were as follows:(1) Based on industrial glycol national quality inspection standards, quality of ethylene glycol poor and rich fluid which was collected in worksite was detected to make the impurity composition in the ethylene glycol solution clear, lying a foundation for analysis of ethylene glycol metamorphism and the design of glycol performance test experiment.(2) Combined with the field investigation of the ethylene glycol circulation system and ethylene glycol detection results, experiment schemes and experiment device were designed to test the effect of impurities on some performances of ethylene glycol including dehydration,foaming in low temperature, regeneration and corrosion in high temperature from multiple angles.(3) Based on control variable method, the single factor experiments were carried out to study the effect of the impurities on the properties of ethylene glycol, and relationship curves were obtained between condensate, size of the solid impurity content and acidity with ethylene glycol dehydration ability, foaming ability, regeneration ability and corrosion ability.The control concentration and content were obtained to provide certain theoretical basis for the formation of ethylene glycol quality control measures.(4)According to the results of site investigation and single factor experiment, orthogonal experiment method was used to study the effect of impurities on dehydration ability of ethylene glycol under the condition of multiple factors(including gas condensate, corrosion inhibitor, defoamer, acidity), and the interaction-considering results were analyzed using variance to get the key influencing factors and the optimal portfolio concentration between them.(5) According to the above experiment results, ethylene glycol quality control measureswere put forward from four aspects including dehydration, regeneration properties, foaming performance and corrosion performance, providing guidance for rational use and life prolong of ethylene glycol.
