In this paper, ANSYS finite element method was used to analysis the mechanical structural strength of modified fast-growing poplar wood chair. The method has favourable repeatability and suitable for complex shapes and various materials. It can shorten chair furniture design cycle and save the cost of product development.This paper sums up the structure of solid wood chair furniture through research. Classify the method of load according to the static load strength test of the solid wood chair. Determine the load on the basis of the national standard under the condition of considering the habit of misuse, so that the loads and constraints for a wider range of mechanical testing of wood chairs. The loads and constraint conditions are used in the finite element analysis of solid wood chair. This paper discusses the method of using Pro-e software modeling and analysis of mechanical strength of solid wood chair structure using ANSYS software. Taking the modified fast-growing poplar wood chair as the research object, using the ANSYS software respectively put to the test on four different structure of the wooden chair, four wooden chair with two limit size, three wooden chair with the chair legs of different section shape, three wooden chairs with the sheathing of different forms. Obtain the design method of part size and shape and complex component of modified fast-growing poplar wood chair. It can be used to guide the structural design of furniture. Through the analysis of the stress value, displacement values and the deformation after loading of the chair, obtained the following conclusions:(1) Using the finite element method can compare the structure intensity of different structures solid wood chair. The finite element method can be used to determine the solid wood chair with suitable components section size, shape and form complex parts. The section size test verifies the enlarged component section size can improve the structural strength. In the chair leg section shape test, the highest strength is the square leg chair structure, the lowest strength is the round leg chair structure. In the test of different form of wooden chair sheathing, NO.1 wooden chair frame structure has the highest strength, followed by the 2 frame and cross column structure.(2) Modified poplar fast-growing wood chair can meet the requirements of the static load in the daily use of structural strength. By using the finite element method can get the most vulnerable position of solid wood chair, guide the optimal design of structure. The damaged positions in different solid wood chairs usually concentrated in the connection of the sheathing or the cross doorpost with the chair legs, the connection position of the armrest with the legs of the chair. In the actual design and production, it is necessary to focus on the form of important components, such as sheathing and legs of chair and the size of the cross doorpost and the armrest under the misuse condition. It can strengthen the structural strength of chair by increasing the thickness of sheathing or add the number of cross doorpost.
