With the rapid development of national economy, the demand of mineral resources and production increase gradually.As the number of the tailings and the database is also on the rising in our country, the central line damming method in the project of large tailings damming technology was gradually widely used in our country. In theory, the central line damming method has the characteristics of low saturation line and good static and dynamic stability. But now the engineering examples and practice experience are extremely lacking about this kind of damming method, the research depth on physical and mechanical properties of tailing sands is not enough. Because of the complexity and particularity of the central line damming method, and the diversity of the tailings material, as well as the seriousness of the consequences of earthquake, the study on dynamic properties of the central line tailing sands is particularly important.A copper mine tailings dam which will build by central line damming method in yunnan province is the research background in this paper. In order to study the dynamic characteristics of two kinds of tailing sands produced by hydrocyclone classifier more comprehensive and systematic, the underflow tailing sands and the overflow tailing sands were tested and analyzed through a large number of indoor soil tests. The main work and achievements are as follows:(1)In the physical and mechanical properties test, this paper analyzes the statics properties of two kinds of tailing sands, it is concluded that the basic physical property parameters and permeability, compressibility and shear strength index of statics parameters.(2)A series of dynamic characteristics tests were taken about this two kinds of tailing sands through GCTS dynamic triaxial apparatus and GCTS resonant column,which studied liquefaction strength, dynamic pore pressure and the attenuation characteristics of the dynamic modulus and damping ratio of this two kinds of tailing sands, and the residual deformation characteristic ofthe underflow tailing sands.(3)From the tests of model parameters, Duncan E-μ model and E-B model parameters, the pore pressure model and parameters, Hardin-Drnevich model parameters, dynamic modulus and damping ratio parameters of Shen-zhujiang model,and Shen-zhujiang residual deformation model parameters ofthe underflow tailing sands were obtained.
