Nowadays, TBM has been widely used in water conservancy, transportation, urban rail transit and other engineering fileds. Because of the complexity of the coal mine hydrology and engineering geology condition, reports of the application and research of TBM in this filed are very few. With the shallow depletion of coal resources in our country, the kilometer deep well are increasing, traditional mining method are going to be unable to satisfy the safety and rapidly construction of rock tunnel requirements in this high pressure and temperature environment. Therefore, applying the TBM method to mine tunnel construction became to be a good choice.In this paper, under the background of our country’s first case of full face rock tunnel constructed by TBM in Huainan Zhangji 1413A pumping lane, based on the method of TBM and engineering geological characteristics of coal mine deep tunnel, focus on the existed basic theory and key technology problem of applying TBM into the construction of deep coal mine tunnel, the theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and information construction monitoring method were taken into consideration to research the feasibility of this method.First, we analysised the TBM rock breaking structure, analyzed its’forcing and rock breaking ability; based on the rock breaking ability and actual stress of the hob in the process of TBM tunneling, rock broken adaptability of TBM’s cutter under the environment of hard rock and high pressure are analyzed. According to the rock cutting propagation model, using the theory of rock fracture mechanics, the rock crack propagation rules under the action of hob are revealed, good results are achieved.Thereafter, by using the software of FLAC-3D, the numerical simulation of TBM construction process in 1413A pumping lane was built. Through it we analyzed the stress and size of plastic zone of the surrounding rock under the process of TBM construction tunnel, explored the surrounding rock stability problem of the tunnel when using TBM. Besides, the construction information monitoring were taken in the actual construction site, convergence deformation of surrounding rock and anchor stress were monitored, throurh the comparation and analysis of monitoring results and numerical simulation results, we optimized the supporting structure of the tunnel’s surrounding rock and obtained the feasibility conclusion of applying TBM into deep coal mine tunnel, and it had been verified by engineering experience.
