With the increasing competition in market and expansion of personalized market demand, many enterprises in our country have experienced unprecedented pressure. In the face of the complex and volatile market environment, more and more enterprises begin to improve the field of production workshop based on the idea of lean production. The core idea of lean production is to eliminate waste, hope to reduce costs and improve productivity by eliminating non value added activities in production. The workshop facility layout is an important branch of the field improvement research. A reasonable layout of workshop facilities can reduce the production costs effectively, enhance the stability of production logistics system and enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of enterprises. By applying the concept of lean production to the layout design of the facility layout, the waste can be eliminated earlier. This paper takes the napkin production workshop of W company as research object, to improve layout of the workshop by using the system layout design method and flexsim modeling technology.Firstly, the author establishes the research direction of the paper by related theories about the optimization of the layout of the workshop and the research status at home and abroad. Then, conducting investigation and collecting of relevant data in W company’s production department. Get the comprehensive relationship between the operation units by using SLP method. Get the area of the operating unit by the relevant figure of unit position and Actual situation. Finally get the initial plan of the two workshop layout.Secondly, after assuming and simplifing of the workshop production system, the concept model of workshop layout is obtained. Based on the conceptual model, the simulation model of workshop production system was established by using Flexsim software. By analyzing the simulation results, we can find the problems in the initial plan. Think about the problems and put forward the amendments, then verify the effectiveness of the improved program by simulation.Finally, we take a comparative analysis of the improved program by core indicators. Include six aspects as product rate, average utilization rate of transport, average travel distance of transport per day, time scale of waiting for transport, processor idle time scale and blockage time scale. Based on the study, we established the optimized 1 program as the final program.
