As a kind of economic sectional materials, the cold-formed steel is widely used in the fields of automotive, building, electrical, transportation industry and etc. The cold-formed steel has the advantages of high dimensional accuracy, good appearance, and high structural strength, is the ideal modern material. With the continuous development of our society, cold roll forming technology is widely applied in the traditional processing field, which requires us to make in-depth research on the application of cold roll forming technology.Container roof is important component of the container, so the demand for its quality is increasing, the traditional stamping way often causes the defects of high amount of thinning on roof corners and low production efficiency. The research set the container as the object, studying the key technology in the process of the cold roll forming. Container roof is variable cross-section corrugated plate, and the change of section in the longitudinal direction lead to the complexity of its forming process. The process parameters have important influence on the forming quality in the process of roof cold roll forming, in the actual production, the traditional design way need long design period, poor precision and the product quality is difficult to guarantee, so using computer simulation technology on groove design and the study of forming process has become the development trend of cold roll forming.With the aids of the finite simulation software MSC.MARC, establish simplified finite element model, and study the influence of different parameters on the plate and edge wave. The main research contents are as follows:(1) Analyze the theory of cold roll forming, and design the pass according to the pass design principle. Due to the particularity of container roof, analyze the determinate method of roller distance, roller diameter difference and roller angle difference, complete the flower diagram of the roll and mold design.(2) Establish the simplified finite element by analyzing the roof structure characteristics. Then simulate the process of the roof cold roll forming, and analyze the simulation results, such as the stress and strain distribution in different forming stage, the history curves of stress and strain of nodes. Divide the roof into three parts according to the roof structure characteristics, and get the forming characteristics of three parts by analyzing stress, strain and displacement.(3) Research the plate fold in the process of the roof simulation, and analyze the main reason leading to plate fold, research the influence of different process parameters on the plate fold, then give the way to control plate fold in the process of production.(4) Discuss the influence of edge wave under different forming parameters, give the common way to control edge wave, analyze the thickness variation law of roof and the overall amount of thinning. Eventually determine the reasonable process parameters.
