The main research contents was designed to shorten the time of the fire extinction and the triggered time of the extinguishing action. Combined the combustion theory, the fire-extinguishing principle and the fire detection principle, the water-based extinguishing agent was optimized via the simple variable method and the orthogonal experiment, and a kind of automatic linkage fire extinguishing system was designed, the system was used in conjunction with the optimized agent to put out a fire, which was happened in early time. Finaly, all the performances were tested through the actual fire experiments. Conclusions are as follows:(1)According to the evaluation method of the Ross-Miles about the foam properties, screened cover-suffocation component accounted for 9.0%; based on extinguishing time and the resurgence of time, filter out cooling and flame retardant component accounted for 3.9%; according to the freezing point of the sample and the corrosion of Q235 steel, screened frost-corrosion component accounted for 12%. Thus, the optimized water-based extinguishing agent was comprised of cover-suffocation component in about 9.0%, cooling and flame retardant component 3.9%, frost-corrosion component 12%, and the remaining component was water.(2)The performance test results of the optimized water-based extinguishing agent was in line with the relevant provisions in GB 17835-2008:freezing point was -16℃, pH was 7.69, the surface tension was 19.57 mN/m, the corrosion rate on Q235 steel was 13.11, only 20% mortality of fish, after four freeze thaw cycle process, there was no visible stratification and heterogeneous, the flame extinguishing ability were≥1 A and≥34B. Performance comparison experiments between the optimized water-based extinguishing agent and a domestic were conducted, the infrared thermal imaging test results showed that the extinguishing time of the optimized water-based extinguishing agent was shorter than the domestic water-based extinguishing agent-M in CN102274604A by 34.6%, compared to the domestic agent about the cooling rate of the flame was faster by 58.7%. The optimized water-based extinguishing agent has better performance.(3)According to the smoke, flame, heat and other physical quantities,which were produced by the burning of combustion at the beginning of the fire, different fire detection components was chosen, and their output signal was designed, then, a series of automatic linkage fire extinguishing systems were assembled. Conducted the experiments that the burning dish was 300mm×300mm× 150mm and the combustible was 0# diesel.The results showed that these systems were capable of detecting the fire within 25s, and the extinguishing operation started at the moment of detecting the fire, the extinguishing time was less than 4s.
