Nowadays, heading for CNC, high precision, efficiency and environmentally friendly is the specific description for development of machine tool buildings in the major industries countries and regions, so when it comes to the development of CNC machine tools, research on the high precision CNC equipment has been an inevitable trend. As an indispensable field,laser processing has been playing a more and more important role in material processing with its unique advantages, especially when the laser processing system appeared, which integrated with varieties of advanced technologies included NC, a vaster spaces for machining with high quality, efficiency as well as low cost has been provided.Based on the development status of laser processing, it seemed to be of vital important significance about carrying out researches on the precision NC equipment for laser processing,because it’s not only the adaption to the development of the international machine tool industries, but also the requirement of integrated and green development which is based on current situation of machine tool manufacturing in our country. In response, the paper has done such researches on the precision NC equipment for laser processing as followed:(1) Adapt to the practical application of laser processing, a new structure layout of the mechanism is proposed for the NC equipment referred to the original ones, which is designed as four-axis including three linear axis and one rotation axis. Under the premise of the modeling by 3D software, the paper designs and selects the important components of the driving mechanism combined the results of the simulation, besides, a detailed calculation and check is studied for that.(2) Considered the common NC system structure, an open-style NC system based on industry PC is designed for laser processing, which is composed of PC and PMAC. In the hardware structure, a series of matching Panasonic high performance servo motors are used as the driving parts and a semi closed loop servo control system is designed and studied based on PMAC.(3) On the basis of application about curve real-time interpolation theory, an interpolation algorithm based on quadratic NURBS is proposed to approximate and interpolate the parts with non-circular curves by using the curve itself, and it can realize the uniform representation and interpolation of the common non-circular curves including the ellipse, the hyperbolic and the parabola. Besides, a standard algorithm about the feederate control is proposed according to the theory of controlled chord error interpolator. Finally, a series of simulation work are done to verify the algorithm theory by using MATLAB.(4) Based on NURBS fitting and interpolation theory, an automatic programming system is designed by using visual programming software VB, which can enable us to control the process of the programming by inputting certain control parameters. In the programming system, display module is set for the results of fitting and interpolation as well as NC codes can be generated and output to the specific display module according to the interpolation, which can both simplify the process of programming, making it more intuitive and convenient to monitor and debug the program, thus improving the efficiency of machining greatly.
