This paper took the Northern Foot of Yin Mountain in Inner Mongolia as study area. In this research, the main data sources we have utilized are remote sensing data, graphics vector data, and statistical monitoring data. According to the regional characteristics, we constructed the evaluation index system of land eco-security for Northern Foot of Yin Mountain by employing "natural-economic-social" framework model. Then, we applied AHP to determine the weights of the indexes. The important step was to work out the land eco-security index combining with GIS spatial overlay method and comprehensive index model. Judging by this, we classified the grades of land eco-security, thus, we achieved the land eco-security situation of Northern Foot of Yin Mountain; Combined with the evaluating results, through overlay analysis method, analyzed the transference of different land eco-security grades and the improvement of the land eco-security, and land-use eco-security situation. The research results are as follows:(1) The land ecosystem in Northern Foot of Yin Mountain was divided into four grades that include safe grade, relatively safe grade, relatively unsafe grade and unsafe grade. The safe level mainly distributed in grasslands and pastoral areas, Piedmont plain, Low hills. The relatively safe level widely distributed in the whole study areas, concentrate distribution in the northern and mid-western areas of grass land, the relatively unsafe and unsafe levels mainly distributed in northern foot of Yin Mountain and western desert-grassland area and the center of flag county resident and along the line extend outward areas. The land ecological security in Northern Foot of Yin Mountain was sound as a whole.(2) The study results also accounted for the mean land eco-security indexes and grades of all counties in Northern Foot of Yin Mountain during 2000 to 2013, which indicated that the land eco-security situation varied from county to county, the land eco-security indexes of Taibus Banner, Duolun County and Siziwang Banner were always above the average, and the land eco-security situation of those county was in a stable state; The land eco-security indexes of Guyang County and Baiyun ebo mining area were below the average; The land eco-security indexes of others were in the medium levels and the land eco-security situation was in a unstable state. At the same time, the structure of land eco-security grades varied from county to county of different periods.(3) Between 2000 and 2013, the land eco-security situation improved generally in Northern Foot of Yin Mountain. The land eco-security situation improved obviously in 2005~2010, but deteriorated slightly in 2000~2005. Compared with the early stage of research, the area of land eco-security grades happened positive transference distributed in the central and northern grasslands, and the negative transference mainly in the eastern and southern Semi-Agricultural and Semi-Pastoral area.(4) The whole northern areas of Yin Mountain different land using state of ecological security totality was good, the land ecological security of grassland, woodland and arable land was better than water area, construction land and unused land; from the level changes,2000~2003, the land ecological security level of arable land and construction land was decreased, grassland, woodland, water area and unused land was increased.
