Double-deck Bed Design Research Based On Body Size Of Modern College Students

As the main furniture of student apartment, double deck bed plays an important role in college students lives, previous data size for reference is relatively outdated, it is anthropometric data of 1988(26 years ago), which should have been updated every 10 years according to international practice, namely the data size of double deck bed hasn’t been updated either. Because the size design of double deck bed is closely related to college students’ sleep quality and physical health, so we should update design size of double deck bed accordingly.Based on measurement and questionnaire survey, we got the data related to college students’ physical changes, size status of double deck bed and existing problems, combining with modern college students’ psychological needs and changes to optimize the size and materials, etc, on basis of practical designs to put forward design principle and size parameters of double deck bed of college students, which will provide an important reference for similar design in future. Specific research is as follows:We visited the undergraduate student apartment of Northeast Forestry University, and carried out a field measurement and questionnaire survey on size of double deck bed. Mainly includes two aspects:on one hand is measurement of physical size of contemporary college students; On the other hand is measurement of size of existing double deck bed and satisfaction survey. Using the results of questionnaire for data collection and statistical analysis, and based on principle of ergonomics to comprehensive study the relationship between college students’ physiological and psychological changes and double deck bed, putting forward problems existed in the design of double deck bed of student apartment and its influence on student’s physical health, thus to conduct further analysis and put forward countermeasures.Based on methods of ergonomics to determine various size parameters such as percentile data and material to work out a size data on double deck bed conforms to contemporary college students’physical size. According to measurement of students’physical size of Northeast Forestry University to design a double deck bed which can both meet body size of college student and confirm to size of existing apartment, and optimized the placement problem of new designed double deck bed in student apartment.According to the percentile data of college students’ physical size to calculate dimensions of double deck bed, and make clear the design principle of double deck bed, using a rendering to complete the design which will provide reference for future design of double deck bed. Finally is the conclusion and prospect, I suggest that colleges should pay fully attention to people-oriented concept, thus to provide better external environment for college students’ life and learning and attract more designers to further study the design of double deck bed at the same time.
