Design Research On The Transformation Patterns Of Furniture Combination In College Students' Apartments

College student apartments on the campus are not only significant venues for learning and lodging by students,but also vehicles which materialize their perception of the society and transform their interpersonal skills.As college students dwell in the apartments,their psychological behaviours change together with the progress of the times.However,the student apartments today still keep the traditional function of lodging only,which,coupled with the undesirable furniture,brings about various types of inconvenience to students.This paper is devoted to the designing of the ways in which furniture can be combined and transformed through research methods such as literature review,observation,inductive reasoning and case analysis.It first introduces the status of the student apartments on college campus,which aims to find out the ways in which furniture can be combined and transformed through analysis of the spacial features of the apartments,the status of the furniture and the overall characteristics of the inhabitants.It is expected to address the issues that students encounter in using the apartments.Next,the paper focuses on the following explorations.1),it explores how the furniture is transformed and combined through reviewing the ways of how furniture is combined currently,and then arrives at the features of the furniture in terms of their shape,structure,and function.2),it tries to find out the usual types of furniture structure and summarizes their transformations in the process of their being moved,folded and revolved through analysis.3),it exposes the principles involved in the combination and transformation,suggesting that in designing the furniture that can be combined and transformed,the functional purposes,harmony between human beings and machines,accommodation to the surroundings and the aesthetic values should be followed.Finally,it deals with the furniture designing practice for college student apartments in accordance with the previous theoretical findings.This paper arrives at the visual representation,the structural features,and design principles and methods of the furniture involved in the process of combination and transformation through a thorough investigation of how the college student apartment furniture is combined and transformed,with the hope of serving as reference for future designing of furniture for college student apartments.
