As a kind of solid phase welding machinery for energy, for its high welding quality, stable and reliable, low consumption and high efficiency advantages, friction welding is widely used in many fields, such as manufacturing automobile transportation, aerospace and marine exploration development.Traditional friction welding machine has poor stability in hydraulic system. The spindle of welding machine is complicated, and the hydraulic system is harmful for environment. Based on the bit as the main processing object, this paper has designed an all motor drive friction welding machine, in order to overcome the deficiency of traditional friction welding machine.The material of the handle is 45 steel, and the material of the cutting tools is high speed steel. Based on 45 steel and high speed steel welding specification, this paper has confirmed the parameters of all motor drive friction welding machine, and has a more comprehensive design about the all motor drive friction welding machine. All motor drive friction welding machine is mainly composed by spindle drive system, axial compression systems, mobile clamping system and lathe bed. After the design and the calculation of main components, this paper has used UG8.0 software to model them, assemble them, then the design of the welding machine has been finished.To verify if the design of welding machine is reasonable or not, the paper has used Ansys workbench software to carry on the finite element simulation of statics to important parts, including lathe bed, spindle, spindle box, axial thrust, mobile clamping, axial pressure ball screw, mobile clamping ball screw. By simulation analysis, we have got deformation nephogram and stress nephogram, verified the rationality of design, and has a safety factor.The paper has used Ansys workbench software on important rotating parts of all motor drive friction welding machine for modal analysis, the natural frequency of the main shaft, the axial compression screw and the moving clamping screw have been obtained. The natural frequency of the first modality has avoided excitation frequency, which proves the rationality of the design.Based on the results of the simulation of the finite element statics of all motor drive friction welding machine, the paper has discussed and analyzed the safety redundancy of the axial thrust, movable clamping and spindle box, and guarantee their main structure does not change in the optimization design. The optimization results show that the mass of axial thrust, movable clamping and main shaft box are reduced by 23.2%,14.4%and 11.1% respectively.
