In the power system, numbers of inductive load and transformers require massive reactive power. The flow of reactive power will have a huge impact on the power system. Pumping units are the main load in Gudao grid of Shengli Oilfield. Partial lines which are low in power factor, has long been the reactive deficiency, leading to a high loss. Reactive power compensation is a less investment and higher return program in measures of reducing losses.This paper analyzed the current situation of reactive power compensation of the lines in Gudao grid of Shengli Oilfield and identified a combined compensation pattern of high voltage line compensation and low pressure well motor compensation, As the characteristics of dynamic fluctuations in the motor wells power factor, the low-voltage compensation combined with dynamic compensation and fixed compensation is selected, meanwhile the selection of compensation point and compensation capacity are obtained reasonably. After on-site installation and application, it proved that the application of the reactive power compensation technology in well lines can effectively maintain the voltage level of the system, improve the system voltage stability and power factor.it also can avoid a large number of long-distance transmission of reactive power, thereby reducing the grid losses and power generation costs.
