NR was used in a vast range of shock absorption because of its outstanding comprehensive properties and low dynamic/static stiffness ratio, for example, shockabsorbing pads for machines and instruments, isolation bearings for bridges and buildings. However, its development was restricted by its poor fatigue resistance and aging resistance and so on. The recipe was optimized to obtain NR based shock-absorbing pad with optimum comprehensive properties in this thesis.In this thesis, NR/BR blend system was studied, and the optimal BR type as well as optimal BR9000 and Nd40 dosage in NR/BR blend system was got. Then the curing system was studied, and the best S/TBBS ratio and MgO dosage as well as effective measures to improve anti-reversion property of NR thick products were got. Finally the reinforcing system was studied, and the optimum carbon black type was gained.Study on NR/BR blend system showed that blending with BR could improve the fatigue resistance of NR significantly as well as temp. rise and processability, but it increased dynamic/static stiffness ratio and decreased mechanical property. Compared with BR9000, blending with CB24 and Nd40 could obtain shock-absorbing materials with better performance on all sides. The optimum dosage of BR9000 was 10 phr, while 20 phr for Nd40 in NR/BR blend system.Study on curing system showed that the best S/TBBS ratio was 1.50/1.50 and the best MgO dosage was 2 phr. Compared with anti-reversion agent KA9188 and Si69, WK901 improved the anti-reversion property of NR more effectively, especially outstanding under high curing temperature and longer curing time. Moreover, its vulcanizates had high strength, low dynamic/static stiffness ratio and good anti-ageing property. Compared with Ni-BR, Nd-BR had a better performance on improving XLD, whereby Nd50 and Nd60 slowed and relieved the reversion. Therefore, two effective ways to improve anti-reversion property of NR thick products were adding WK901 and blending Nd50 or Nd60 with NR.Study on influence of carbon black type showed that, NR filled with N550 had the lowest loss modulus and tanĪ“ as well as high XLD. Its vulcanizates had the most stable dynamic/static stiffness ratio before and after aging, outstanding processability and mechanical property. Therefore, the optimum carbon black type was N550.NR based shock-absorbing pads with optimum comprehensive properties were gained since its properties such as fatigue resistance, anti-aging and anti-reversion and so on were improved effectively through recipe optimization.
