This paper designs a kind of power slips and hydraulic rotary support table used on the drilling platform. The power slips and rotary support table are powered by hydraulic, which changing the structure of manual slips and conventional turntable. Both tools have advantages, such as they bear tremendous load during drilling,high degree of automation and efficiency, reducing labor intensity, This slips and turntable have a brilliant prospect in application.In the structure design of power slips and rotary table, a mechanical model, between slips and drill pipe, has been built,deriving a mathematical relationship between drill pipe’s hanging weight and clamping force, and explaining the self-locking condition in the slips.Besides, the paper also discusses the slip’s material and parameters of tooth, and presents the detailed process of design and calculation about hydraulic cylinder, the height of slip,slewing bearing, pinion, lock mechanism and rotary part. The power slips and turntable’s3D assembly model has been established via NX UG.Finally, The paper study the damage on tubular caused by clamping force from slips.Using finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench, the static contact analysis has been applied to tubular under clamping force as well as hanging weight. The results, which shows in the form of stress and strain cloud, indicates the maximum stress and strain appear in the bottom of drill pipe,meanwhile, some theory has test the results.
