The mud manifold is compared to artery of oil rig, playing a huge role in drilling process. Mud manifold system layout optimization is one of the most important part of the deepwater drilling platform design. Presently, manifold system layout optimization design depends on manual work which means a loss of time. In order to improve the design efficiency, an automatic layout optimization method of deepwater drilling platform is designed based on the detailed study of manifold system layout optimization technical status and advanced computer technology,The layout system equipments are simplified and the layout space is meshed for discretization, the path is encoded based on node location coordinates, and the path evaluation objective function is designed with the parameters such as pipe length, using number of elbows and erection height. Eventually the deepwater drilling platform piping layout system mathematical simulation model is set up.With the establishment of deepwater drilling platform piping layout system mathematical simulation model, the automated manifold layout genetic algorithm(GA) is designed. In view of its defect, two kinds of improving way are come up with, one is to use simulated annealing method, the other is to bring in controlled excellent gene segments. The improvements give rise to the controlled intervention genetic algorithm(CIGA) and the controlled intervention simulated annealing genetic algorithm(CISAGA). Under the same operating environment and initial parameters, simulation manifold layout experiments are designed with the three algorithm. The results indicate that the computation result path of CISAGA can avoid obstacles and lay along the low energy region, the path is the shortest and the number of elbows is the least. The CISAGA runs steadily and has obvious effective of evolution, it also has a strong global convergence ability which can effectively restrain premature phenomenon of the genetic algorithm.Take the CISAGA as kernel, automated three-dimensional simulated manifold layout software is exploited. It can show the real-time process of looking for optimal solution, output and save optimized data. The three-dimensional models of deepwater drilling platform mud manifold system are established. Besides, the function and system architecture are put forward for automated three-dimensional physical model manifold layout software based on Solidworks second development. The technique is tentatively explored using model with simplified function which has enormous reference and guiding significance to the development of the software.
