Research on deep-water drilling rig system in China has just began. Drilling rigsystem has become the main bottlenecks during the development of oil and gas explorationtowards deepwater and ultra deepwater. The layout of deep-water drilling rig system is animportant part of general design of drilling rig system. It not only has important effects onoperation performance and drilling effiency, but also the main basis of further detaileddesign of drilling rig system. Combining with the national863major issue, layout design ofdeep-water drilling rig system is studied in this paper, mainly include the following details.Firstly, according to the characteristics of layout problem with deep-water drilling rigsystem, general layout principle of deep-water drilling rig system was put forward.Deep-water drilling rig system was devided into sereval functional modules based onoperation process. General layout algorithm was given aiming at modules at different levelsof platform.Secondly, the paper simplified the drilling equipment on the upper deck. Minimumvalue of material load distance and lateral eccentricity of barycenter was regarded as layoutobjectives. The mathematical model of the drilling equipment on the upper deck wasestablished with the given constraint conditions.Thirdly, this paper analyzed the basic theory, operation process, advantages anddisavantages of standard genetic algorithm and simulated annealingalgorithm. A hybridgenetic simulated annealing algorithm was designed. This hybrid algorithm not only inheritsthe advantages of two algorithms, but also avoids poor local optimization of the geneticalgorithm and solves inefficient of the simulated annealingalgorithm. An example was givento improve the effectiveness of the algorithm. The layout design system of drilling equipment was developed to solve the upper deck layout problem.Finally, the paper calculated the size and quality of functional module of the target rigand solved the upper deck layout problem using layout design system of drilling equipment.The lower deck layout problem was solved by area matching algorithm. A compound modebetween functional module and cabin was given. The layout design of deep-water rigsystem was complished.
