Mould is the key component of continuous casting machine,the parameters of mould is essential.Appropriate taper can not only improves withdrawal speed of the continuous casting,prevents the occurrence of breakout accident,but also enhance the quality of the continuous cast billet and prolonged life of the mould.The large section billet caster’s mould taper research is few in the country,The design research is exploring,so that the thick rectangular billet research is necessary.The size is 1500mm×750mm of thick rectangular billet were studied in this paper.Mainly using the method of numerical simulation with finite element analysis software include ANSYS and FLUENT.Study of billet shape of fluid-solid coupling and thermal coupling simulation.The purpose is obtained the Mould taper distribution.For future research of relevant technology of thick rectangular billet Mould caster provides certain theoretical reference.The fist construct a three dimensional slab 1/4 model.By using the FLUENT software to simulate the finite element software flow field of casting.As the fluid-structure coupling simulation analysis for reference.Secondly use to establish the three-dimensional model of a quarter.Import the temperature field by using the FLUENT software to simulate thermal coupling.Analysis of the flow field of casting for the temperature field and solidification impact,obtained under different drawing speed of the temperature field and solidification,the aim is to the slab coupled thermo-mechanical simulation provide reasonable temperature field conditions.The last but not least establish a slab of three-dimensional model of a quarter by ANSYS.To import 3 d slab temperature field for thermal coupling simulation and get the casting contraction curve.It is concluded that the blank shape of the inner cavity mould taper,and the taper is parabola form by analysis of the curve.Finally it is concluded that1500 mm x 750 mm thick rectangular billet wide and narrow surface center’s design reference taper.Found the upper shell surface center contraction curve is ups anddowns,and the wide surface fluctuation period is longer.
