As a new type of solid phase welding technology, Friction Stir Welding(FSW)has been widely used in the fields of aerospace manufacturing, shipbuilding industry,rail transportation and other fields. With the development of FSW technology,reliability, stability and performance of welding products put forward higher requirements of FSW. In the process of FSW, the friction between the tool and workpiece produce the main heat then makes workpiece connected. Research between experts and scholars show that tool-workpiece interface temperature has an important influence on the mechanical properties and welding quality of weld workpiece.Temperature affects the microstructure, tensile strength, and material flow behaviors of weld workpiece. Through the real-time monitoring of temperature, then take control of temperature and process parameters can effectively improve the quality of FSW. Therefore, monitoring the welding temperature of friction stir welding has great significance to improve mechanical properties and quality of workpiece.At present, research on welding temperature of friction stir welding is mostly based on the numerical simulation and temperature field detection, but the real-time monitoring of welding temperature is rare. This paper discusses the monitoring method of welding temperature, according to the FSW temperature monitoring needs,developed a set of welding temperature monitoring platform, and then do some experiments and engineering test. The main contents of this paper include:Discuss the background and significance of the research status on FSW, Introduce and analyze process monitoring technology of welding temperature monitoring of FSW welding.Analyse the requirements of temperature monitoring of FSW, introduce and compare the advantages and disadvantages of welding temperature monitoring methods, Propose the monitoring method to monitoring FSW temperature from FSW tools in the front of the machine spindle.Analyse the design and overall configuration of welding temperature monitoring platform, Discuss the development of temperature monitoring sensor in detail,including the module design of sensor structure, signal processing module etc..Discuss the influencing factors of the accuracy of the temperature sensor, and did some experiment for the static calibration and dynamic calibration so as to improve the temperature measurement accuracy and reliability.Discuss and determine the data transmission scheme of welding temperaturesensor, the data transmission module design of hardware and software, as to achieve the temperature sensor from the machine spindle to the receiving equipment of data transmission. According to the analysis of the demand and function of welding temperature monitoring software, develope a set of welding temperature monitoring software, to achieve the functions of the initial welding parameter setting, data acquisition, data processing and analysis, database management and other functions.At the end, the research results and innovation points are summarized, and the future research directions and key points of the research are also summarized. In this paper, the temperature monitoring platform of the friction stir welding can be accurately measured, and it proves that the platform has the characteristics of wide temperature measuring range, high sampling speed, high resolution, and it has good applied prospect.
