This article was mainly about the preparation processing of ionic thermoplastic elastomer along with the modification of EPDM by using ionic thermoplastic elastomer. First of all, it discussed how the mixed-ration of EPDM and NBR influenced curing characteristics, mechanical property, aging-resistant performance as well as oil-resistance feature. EPDM and NBR were modified by adoption of commercial SURLYN resin. We reinforced POE with ZDMA. There were researches about how the feeding way of ZDMA influenced the reinforcement of POE. Preferable preparation processing had been found by dynamic manufacturing ionic thermoplastic elastomer in torque rheometer. Adding LDPE was helpful in getting ionic thermoplastic elastomer with high hardness and high resilience. Adding ionic thermoplastic elastomer prepared modified EPDM and EPDM/NBR.According to the research, with the enlargement of the proportion of NBR, the tensile strength and stress at 100% definite elongation of EPDM/NBR blends decreased first then increased. The hardness decreased, the aging property of heat resistance and ozone resistance declined obviously.The oil resistance was significantly improved. EPDM and NBR blends showed two Tg on DSC figure which formed the two-phase system. Stratification state was really distinct on SEM figure, indicating that the compatibility of EPDM and NBR was not that good.After the modification of EPDM and NBR by using ionic SURLYN resin, EPDM blends gained obvious improvement in comprehensive mechanical property. With the magnification of the dosage of ionization SURLYN resin, the improvement became increasingly significant. With the dosage of ionization SURLYN resin increasing, the hardness and resilience of NBR increased and the heat resistance of NBR was improved.ZDMA reinforced POE, the highest torque of POE in torque rheometer increased while increasing amount of ZDMA. This was true when it came to its mechanical property. Base-generated ZDMA was more efficiency. The better preparation processing for ionic thermoplastic elastomer was when the temperature was 110 ℃, rotate speed was 70 rpm and Tx-29 occupied one portion. The highest torque of ionic thermoplastic elastomer in torque rheometer increased while increasing amount of ZDMA, so as to its mechanical property. With the enlargement of the amount of LDPE, the tensile strength, elongation at break and resilience of ionic thermoplastic elastomer decreased while its stress at definite elongation and hardness increased.Self-regulating ionic thermoplastic elastomer had some effect on the modification of EPDM. With the enlargement of the amount of ZDMA in ionic thermoplastic elastomer, the tensile strength, elongation at break, hardness and resilience of EPDM blends increased. When increased the amount of ionic thermoplastic elastomer, the tensile strength, hardness and resilience of EPDM increased while its elongation at break decreased. At the same time, the processability of EPDM improved. Ionic thermoplastic elastomer could increase the capacity of EPDM and NBR blends. With the enlargement of the application of ionic thermoplastic elastomer, the tensile strength, elongation at break, hardness as well as resilience of EPDM and NBR blends increased. The oil resistance of the blends got improved. There was no obvious hierarchy on SEM figure. The compatibility of EPDM and NBR gained improvement.
