Apocynum whole stalk fiber which called “the king of the wild fiber” has the excellent characteristics of thin and long, softness, good strength and medical treatment. Apocynum whole stalk fiber as the solid substances after extract for medication will be incinerated or abandoned leading to resource waste and environment pollution. Tobacco sheet as a recombinanttobacco can be a good alternative to ordinary tobacco for the merit of low cost,high-quality and tar harm reduction. At present, the traditional tobacco shows a trend in short supply. As a result, Apocynum whole stalk fiber applied to tobacco field can not only increase the biomass resource utilization, take full advantage of Apocynum, improve the whole quality of tobacco, but also can seek new materials to ease the lack of raw material.The excellent characteristics of Apocynum whole stalk fiber has been found by comparing the physico-chemical property between Apocynum whole stalk fiber and tobacco stem and waste. The impregnation process has been optimized by orthogonal experiments and single factor experiment; The gridding process has been optimized with paper-making method according to the the physico-chemical property of Apocynum whole stalk fiber. In order to get the reconstituted tobacco paper-base of Apocynum whole stalk fiber with the quality of good physical properties, moderate concentration of flue gas, good fragrance and cigarette comfort and tar harm reduction to make sure the the feasibility and adaptability of Apocynum whole stalk fiber applied in the tobacco field, Compatibility research between Apocynum whole stalk fiber, tobacco stem and waste has been investigated.It showed that the Apocynum whole stalk fiber had the quality of thinner, softer, more uniform distribution of length and width,higher cellulose and total lignans content, lower ash and pectin content than traditional tobacco material which endowed it to produce smooth and better physical property paper base.The impregnation and grinding process conditions were optimized as follows: temperature of 70 ℃, impregnated with liquid ratio of 1:8, the impregnation time of 90 min, two-stage refining with refiner gap of0.40 mm and 0.20 mm by the influence analysis of it on the rate of yield and quality of Apocynum whole stalk fiber. The best physical properties of paper-based for quantitative of 70 g·m-2were detected as follows:loose thickness, tensile strength, burning rate and air permeability were 5.60 cm3·g-1, 0.44kN·m-1, 0.65 mm·s-1 and 23.35μm·Pa-1·s-1, separately demonstrating that the Apocynum whole stalk fiber could be used in the tobacco field.The results of compatibility research between Apocynum whole stalk fiber, tobacco stem and waste showed that the physical property of the Apocynum whole stalk fiber reconstituted tobacco paper-base of NO.7 not only had the better physical property which could achieve the industry standard and meet the requirements of enterprise devices, but also had the quality of sufficient aroma quantity, better harmonious cigarette flavor, remarkable sweet taste making it in the product category one. The results of conventional index for flue gas showed that the Apocynum whole stalk fiber had no nicotine content endowing the Apocynum whole stalk fiber reconstituted tobacco paper-base with the specialties of less tar, total particulate matter and CO content and the sample NO.7 was best. As a result, Apocynum whole stalk fiber could be used in the tobacco field as an alternative for traditional raw material improving the whole tobacco quality while the best ratio for tobacco waste, tobacco stem and Apocynum whole stalk fiber was 60:16:24.
