Yilon is a polyamide modified polyester fiber. This fiber consists of polyethylene terephthalate and fatty polyamide. It’s a new type of synthetic fiber which based on the advantages of natural fibers and synthetic fibers, and created by the molecular design and construction technology.This paper researched the Yilon’s basic physical and mechanical properties and chemical properties. And on the basis of these, there’s a preliminary study about Yilon’s qualitative identification technology and quantitative analysis. The result showed that:(1) It’s soft and fluffy.The length is about 38.8mm, the average fineness is 1.41 dtex. Under this condition, the average strength is 3.66 cN, elongation at break is 27.28%, strength is 2.6cN/dtex, modulus is 33.06cN/dtex,and resistivity is 2.5×108Ω·cm. At 180℃, heat shrinkage is 7.17%, crimp ratio is 9.18%, crimp recovery is 8.12%, crimp elasticity is 88.99. The melting point is 222 ℃-242 ℃.(2) Yilon’s characteristic absorption peaks also exists in polyester fiber’s IR absorption spectrum which proved Yilon as a polyamide polyester fiber it appears the ester’s character. Besides this, it also appears characteristic absorption peaks at 16661cm-, 15291cm-. The absorption peak at16661cm-may be amide Ⅰzone. The absorption peak at 15291cm-may be amide Ⅱ zone. It proved that Yilon have the possibility of specific feathers of amide.(3) In the performance of chemical dissolved, it’s different from polyester and nylon. At normal temperature, nylon can soluble in 88% formic acid and 38% hydrochloric acid, but Yilon cannot soluble in neither of them.Yilon can partly soluble in 75% sulfuric acid at 50℃ while polyester cannot be. Yilon can totally soluble in boiling 65% nitric acid and dimethylformamide while polyester insoluble.(4) In qualitative identification research, Yilon showed different corresponding eigenvalues by using the methods of combustion method, microscope method, dissolution methods, infrared absorptionspectrometry, melting point method, etc. Therefore, there are basic ways and steps to identify Yilon fiber.(5) According to the dissolution characteristics, this paper studied the quantitative analysis method of blended fabrics with Yilon,cotton and wool. The results showed that, under the specific test environment condition, we can have an accurate and effective quantitative analysis for the above products by using 75% sulfuric acid and hypochlorite.The accuracy of the test meets the requirement of the standard.
