Heavy medium suspension as a kind of separation medium, has a great influence on the result of the separation process and result, by studying on the relationship between size composition of suspension’s solid particle and separation effect, can provide guidance for improving cyclone separation effect, and provide the basis for coal preparation plant to choose adding medium and coal slime particle size.This paper mainly researches the influence of suspension composition on suspension viscosity, stability and fine coal separation effect.Used the equipments such as laser particle analyzer, viscometer detected magnetite powder,coal particle size and suspension viscosity, etc.,the influence of slime content and density of the suspension on the viscosity of the suspension has studied, the relationship between the slime content and the slime particle size and stability of suspension has also studied.The influence of magnetite powder size, slime particle size and overall size of suspension on separation effect,which has studied on slime heavy medium cyclone separation system in the laboratory.Researches show that,when the coal slime content in the suspension increased from 10% to 40%, the viscosity of suspension gradually increased from 13Pa·s to 26 Pa·s, as the coal slime particle size of the suspension decreasing, the viscosity of the suspension increased, when the sd of the coal slime reduces from 0.15 mm to 0.05 mm, the suspension viscosity gradually increased from 13Pa·s to 25Pa·s. when the coal slime content in the suspension increased from 10% to 30%, the Eth of suspension decreased from 0.26 to 0.23, further improved the slime content, the Eth decreased slowly. when magnetite powder d50 were 20.14μm and 15.76μm, possible deviation E were 0.04 and 0.03 respectively as other conditions in the same situation, The thinner magnetite powder d50 was, the more precise the separation was. At the same time, researches show that the coal slime particle size also significantly effect on the separation performance, by reducing the coal slime particle size of suspension can further improve the separation effect.Solid particles in suspension, and the granularity of the bimodal distribution status on the whole, the smaller of suspension, the smaller possible deviation E was.Finally combining ultra-pure coal preparation situation in Taixi coal preparation plant, further confirmed that very high content of fine medium and coal slime in suspension, ensuring the efficiency of heavy medium separation process.
