To achieve automation task which is undering complex situations aptly in the rail marshalling yard of our country, retarder has been applied extensively in our country’s marshalling yard,and becoming an imoprtant facilities for transport since 1970st.Methods of detecting the retarder have been presented and have designed testing equipment,but daily patrol of the online-detecting retarder which is fixing on the rails ,according to steping on the retarders and then judgment by experience,obviously it consumes time and labor.Althouth there are some indoor testing fixtures,but the outdoor retarder detection-online is not enough good and can hardly satisfy the need of production.Based on a lot of technical literature both abroad and domestic,this paper use the structure of retarder and its working elements and working states and the result of experiment and according to the temperature of retarder,a new way is proposed to design if the retarder is function properly.The paper develops a outdoor retarder detection-online. This paper introduces the hardware and software design of aoutdoor retarder detection-online.The hardware contains a data acquisition system and data storage and serial port Communication and display and lower PC programmed which is controlled by single chip micr-computer. Software contains several functions such as data processing and showing measurement data and data management and data analysis and data inquiry. The paper plots temperature curve in the development environment of Visual C++ and implements a graphical by programmed and puts the data into the SQL database.Through analysis on the measured data, we can determine scientifically whether the retarder need to repair, and alleciate labor intensity. Experiments show that the method is feasible.
