Gear pump has many advantages such as simple mechanism, small volume, light weight, good self-priming performance, insensitivity to oil contamination, reliable’s work, long life, low cost, easy maintenance. So it Has been widely used in all kinds of hydraulic machineries. This paper does the research about common gear pumps like involute gear pump, internal meshing cycloid pump and clears about the advantages and disadvantages through analyzing theri working mechanism of common gear pumps. The phenomena include pocketed oil, unbalanced radial force and the problem of clearance leakage of common gear pumps are also analysed in this paper.Gear is the core of gear pump. The design idea of quadruple-arc gear pump is put forward firstly through the study of circular arc gear. The optimization design mathematical model of quadruple-arc gear pump is established by taking capacity of pump, limiting speed, radial clearance of gear engagement as constraint condition, minimum volume of the pump as objective function. The optimization design of the basic parameter of quadruple-arc gear pump resolves the problem of choice for basic parameter. Through the analysis for displacement, theoretical flow, instantaneous flow, mean flow, flow pulsation, pressure pulsation of quadruple-arc gear pump and comparison with relevant parameter of common involute gear pump the paper put forward relevant improvement measures. At last design and3D model of quadruple-arc gear pump was builded through the software Solidworks.This paper has done a systematic study for quadruple-arc gear pump solving the problem of parameter choice and builded its3D model, it will has the role of theoretical guidance for the study of Circular arc tooth profile of gear pump.
