Gas Insulated Switchgear,for short GIS. It is defined as: All or part of the gasinstead of using air as a dielectric under atmospheric pressure metal-enclosedswitchgear. In its internal filled with insulation and arc extinguishing performance ofSF6(sulfur hexafluoride) gas as insulation and arc extinguishing media. It is alsocalled the SF6totally enclosed combined electrical appliances. Insulation, arcingmedium uses SF6gas, its insulation performance and arcing performance is betterthan air. Electric field for GIS equipment is using coaxial cylinder clearance, so is abit uneven electric field, compared with the conventional substation rods-plate ofnon-uniform electric field, the GIS equipment has more excellent electricalperformance. GIS is small in shape, with high reliability, strong security and littlemaintenance workload.Because there are many advantages on GIS, it has beenwidely used in recent years.This paper expounds the main structure and two operating modes of GIS. It alsointroduces the GIS equipment installation standards and daily operation andmaintenance. Then analyze technological advance, there being still shortcomings atpresent and the related technology of improving methods that related to thetransformer substation of Dong Jiayao in detail. Finally the author puts forward thepoint of view that the technology development trend of GIS.
